(Let’s pretend it’s) October is a synth-driven pop single built on restraint, intimacy, and late-night atmosphere. Moving at 124 BPM with glowing 80s-influenced synth textures and minimalist modern production, the track explores the tension between desire and hesitation — a place where closeness feels possible if contradictions are allowed to coexist.

extended bio
Jakob Welding is a queer pop artist and songwriter creating intimate, synth-driven music that lives between nostalgia and immediacy. Drawing on the emotional language of 80s pop while maintaining a modern, minimalist sensibility, his songs favour atmosphere, restraint, and emotional precision over spectacle.
At the centre of Jakob’s work is an interest in closeness — how desire forms, how intimacy lingers, and how people choose softness as a way of staying connected, even temporarily. His lyrics often focus on moments rather than resolutions: nights that feel suspended in time, relationships defined by proximity rather than permanence, and the quiet tension between wanting and knowing.
Queerness in Jakob’s music is present as perspective rather than theme. Love songs address men without explanation or framing, allowing desire and vulnerability to exist naturally and without translation. This approach gives the work a sense of specificity while remaining emotionally open and accessible.

Visually, Jakob approaches his projects as cohesive worlds. Music, imagery, and typography are treated as extensions of one another, drawing more from fashion editorials and contemporary art spaces than traditional pop presentation. The result is an aesthetic that feels nocturnal, intentional, and pared back — a space designed for listening rather than distraction. Working independently, Jakob Welding develops his releases slowly and deliberately, prioritising coherence and emotional clarity over volume or visibility. His current work reflects a focused period of songwriting centred on intimacy, memory, and the decision to linger — even when the future remains unresolved.

The background harmony is simply beautiful and the lead vocals melt you heart.

In fact, an enjoyable element of humor threaded throughout the entire show, with Jakob Welding singing he was "way ahead of his time" as a gay caveman -

It's the perfect kind of music to reflect upon life with.
